PETROTECH ODOR ELIMINATOR
PRODUCT -- USAGE RULE OF THUMB
Petrotech Odor Eliminator must come in contact with the odor source in order to clean and get rid of odors or stains. You do not need to soak or saturate the area. You only need to make sure that Petrotech comes in contact with the odor source so that it can work on eliminating the source of the odor or stain. Our rule of thumb is to use less than more -- remember, you do NOT need to soak or saturate the area. Use your nose and eyes -- if you still can find the odor source or stain you missed the source and re-spray.
The following are examples of specific uses.
PET ODORS
Bird, Ferret, Hamster, Rabbits or other Small Animal Cages
Need to get rid of odor after you have cleaned out their cage? Use Petrotech for Bird Cage, Rabbit Cage, Ferret Cage, Small Animal All Purpose or Multipurpose – Mist on the cage. This non-toxic and nonflammable product is safe for all small animals, even birds. while getting the job done of eliminating any odors from the cage.
Litter Box Odors
Even if you clean them everyday, it is difficult to have an odor free home with a litter box. Spraying the litter box every day with the Litter Box or Multipurpose – Mist will rid your home of the odor. In addition, if you have a smell in the litter box after you remove the litter, just spray on the litter box and rub it in with a cloth to get rid of the remaining smells. Your guests won’t even know that you have a cat.
Pet Area Odors
Doghouses, dog runs, carpets, any porous surface, etc. can be a troublesome odor problem. Spraying the area once a week with the Carpet, Concrete or Multipurpose – Direct products safely control odors. Cages, crates or pet beds giving you a problem? Spraying the area with the Cage, Furniture or Multipurpose – Mist product will do the job.
Stinky Coat Odor
Does your dog like to roll on dead fish on the beach? Does he get smelly after getting wet? Use Petrotech Stinky Coat Cleaner until you have time to give him or her a bath!
Ferrets and other small animals give off this body smell? Use Petrotech Stinky Coat for Small Animals and have a scent free room!
Skunked Animal Odor
Tired of the tomato sauce remedy when your dog is skunked? For skunk odor, use the De-Skunk Coat Cleaner or Multipurpose – Direct product on your pet’s fur or hair, rub it in, and the smell is gone; do not wash your dog after spraying on Petrotech until it is dried. For the area around your pet’s eyes, nose or mouth, spray Petrotech on a rag and rub it in; do not spray their faces.

HOUSE ODORS
Bathroom Odors
After Odors . Use Petrotech for Furniture or Multipurpose -- Mist and spray into the toilet bowl (not just in the air), as this is the source of the odor.
Tile and Grout. Use Petrotech for Concrete, Carpet or Multipurpose - Direct on those tough odors that stay in your tile and grout after you have cleaned them.
Carpet
Old & persistent odors: On carpet, there are three scenarios: (1) the odor source has saturated the carpet but not the pad, (2) the odor source has saturated the carpet and the carpet pad, and (3) the odor source has saturated the carpet, carpet pad and sub floor.
Remember, Petrotech needs to come in contact with the odor source to work. Once it has made contact, it will encapsulate the odor source and eliminate the odor.
HINT : When urine is deposited on carpet, it will spread in a wider area underneath. Think of a pyramid; the tip is the surface of the carpet and the base is underneath. So you will have to spray a wider area than just where the urine was deposited.
(1) Use Carpet or Multipurpose – Direct and spray directly on the affected area of the carpet for 3 to 5 seconds, so that the carpet is wet to the touch (but not soaked). Allow area to dry, and check to see if odor is completely gone. If odor is not completely gone, the spray did not have come in contact with the entire odor source. Reapply the spray to the area that still has an odor, following the directions above.
(2) If there is still an odor present after the second application, it may be that the odor source has saturated the carpet and carpet pad. To get to the odor source, you will need to pull up the carpet and spray Petrotech directly on the carpet pad. Also, check the back of the carpet for odor, and if present, spray the back of the carpet. Allow it to dry and check to see if odor is completely gone. If some odor remains apply second application following directions above.
(3) In some cases when odor is severe, the odor source has affected the carpet pad and reached subsurface floor. When carpet pad is severely affected (saturated), we recommend cutting out the affected part of the pad and replacing the carpet padding. Spray the affected concrete subsurface with the product, and allow to dry. If odor is present after drying, apply second application, following directions above. Check for odor after the second application, and if odor is present apply the product again. It is not uncommon for many applications when the odor source has soaked into the concrete.
Note: Concrete is porous, and soaks up liquid . You may need several applications. As Petrotech eliminates the odor source on the top layer of the floor, the urine odor source soaked into the deeper layers will rise. Each application gets rid of the old odor source until it is completely gone.
Clothes Closet and Hamper Odors
Keep your closet and hamper clean and fresh smelling at all times. Damp clothing left in the closet or hamper may cause mildew to develop. Spraying Petrotech for Furniture or Multipurpose Mist in your closet or the hamper will eliminate the odor in the air. To get rid of the mildew, you need to use an anti-bacterial cleaner.
Concrete and Tile
Urine can sometimes get into the floor surface and tile grout, especially if you have granite or concrete floors. Just wiping the floor does not get rid of the urine odor because it can penetrate into the porous surface. Petrotech for Concrete or Multipurpose Direct can eliminate the odor source in your floor. If your floor has had a problem for a while, you may need to apply the spray several times. As Petrotech eliminates the odor source on the top layer of the floor, the urine odor source soaked into the deeper layers will rise. Each application gets rid of the old odor source until it is completely gone.
Diaper Pails and Diaper Bags Odors
A smelly diaper pail or bag can be a very difficult problem. Spray Petrotech for Furniture or Multipurpose Mist into the diaper pail or bag, and the odor caused by urine and feces, quickly disappears. Keep your baby’s room smelling fresh and clean, and free from the strong ammonia smell that generally accompanies diaper pails and bags, both safely and economically.
Mildew or Musty Smells
Smells because of dampness or mold can often invade your home. Spray Petrotech for Furniture or Multipurpose Mist in the air to get rid of the smell but the smell will come back unless you eliminate the source of the odor. To eliminate mildew or mold, you will need to use an anti-bacterial cleaner.
Pillows
Someone has an accident on the pillows on your sofa or bed and the odor source is in the pillow? Petrotech can help here. First, take the pillow cover off of the pillow and spray it down with Petrotech for Furniture or Multipurpose Mist. Next, get a large plastic bag and your vacuum cleaner. Thoroughly spray the surface of the pillow with Petrotech Bedding or Multipurpose Direct, and put the treated pillow in the plastic bag. Suck all the air out of the pillow (compressing it so that Petrotech can reach the odor source) by placing your vacuum cleaner hose inside the bag, wrapping the bag around the hose and turning on the vacuum. Keep it wrapped up tight in the bag for about 15 minutes then take it out and see if the odor is gone. If you still smell something, you’ve missed a spot; repeat the process above until it is all gone.
Shoe and Boot Odors
Those odor eaters not working in your shoes and boots? Remove the shoe inserts, spray the inserts and the inside of your shoe with Petrotech Carpet or Multipurpose Direct and say goodbye to smelly feet.
Sofas
Someone have an accident on your sofa and you cannot get out the smell? Petrotech can help here. The challenge is getting to the odor source! If it is in the sofa pillows, see the instructions under Pillows. If the urine got inside the sofa frame and into the stuffing or wood, there are several things to check. Check to see if the frame is exposed from the bottom of the sofa or if the side or back of the sofa can come off. If you can reach the frame or stuffing through these openings, use Petrotech for Bedding or Mulitpurpose Direct and spray the infected areas. If there are no openings, I am sorry to say that we cannot get the Petrotech to the infected areas to get rid of the smell.
Trash Cans. Spray trash cans with Petrotech for Furniture or Mulitpurpose Mist to eliminate those smells from old food. Not only will your house be free of garbage smells, but your trash man will thank you too.
Urine and Feces Odor on Fabric Surfaces
Remove the waste materials from the area, and then spray Petrotech for Bedding or Multipurpose Direct on the affected area. A few sprays directly on the area will eliminate the odor completely without harming the carpet fiber or upholstery fabric. Always test fabric for colorfastness first to be safe!
Urine Soiled Mattresses Odor
Mattresses can be soiled and odorous due to urination. Remove the waste materials from the area, and then spray Petrotech for Bedding or Multipurpose Direct on the affected area. If the urine has dried inside the mattress, you may need to spray both sides of the mattress to try and reach the dried odor source in the mattress. If you still smell something, it means you have not reached the odor source; repeat the process above until the odor is gone.
Walls and Woodwork
Application on walls and woodwork is dependent upon the degree of saturation in the wood. The only requirement for Petrotech for Wood/Tile or Multipurpose Mist to work is that the product must come in contact with the odor source. Once it has made contact, it will encapsulate the odor source and eliminate the odor.
Spray Petrotech for Wood and Tile or Multipurpose Mist spray directly on the affected area. For added benefits, rub the affected area with a clean rag to increase the penetration of the spray onto surface (e.g. wood, wall, etc.) Allow area to dry, and check to see if odor is completely gone. If odor is not completely gone, the spray may not have come in contact with all of the odor source. Reapply the spray to the area that still has an odor, following all of the directions above.
Note: Wood and wall surfaces are porous and naturally soak up liquids; Petrotech Odor Eliminator will pull the odor source out of the wood and wall with each application, until it is completely gone.

SMOKE ODORS
In areas where cigarette, cigar or pipe smoke is a problem such as the house, car or your clothes, Petrotech for Furniture or Mulitpurpose Mist spray will eliminate any traces of smoke odor. Always test fabric for colorfastness first to be safe!
Auto (See Car and Truck Odors)
Clothes
Clothes that have cigarette and cigar smoke odor can be sprayed with Petrotech Odor Eliminator for Furniture or Mulitpurpose Mist. Start by hanging up the article of clothing. Using the Petrotech Odor Eliminator for Furniture or Multipurpose Mist spray an inconspicuous piece of fabric to test for color fastness. Next spray the article of clothing thoroughly and allow it to dry. Check for cigarette and cigar smoke odor and spray again if necessary. In some cases, it will be necessary to spray the inside of the garment. This can be accomplished by turning the garment inside out and spraying the entire surface following instructions above.
House
If the cigarette and cigar smoke is detected in the entire house or in a room, it is always a good idea to start the process by spraying the (HVAC) heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. Take out the filter from the (HVAC) system, turn on fan and set the system to heat.
Locate the return vent (vent that pulls air from the house and recirculates air back into the house) and spray Petrotech Odor Eliminator Furniture or Multipurpose Mist into the return vent (about 3 to 5 inches away from the return vent) for about 3 to 6 seconds. Allow system to run for about 5 minutes and repeat process.
Walk through the house to check whether any cigarette and cigar smoke odor can be detected. If no odor is detected, place a new air filter in the system. If odor is detected in an isolated room or area, it will be necessary to spray Petrotech on the walls, carpet and other surfaces to eliminate the remaining cigarette and cigar smoke odor.

AUTO ODORS
Auto Interior Odors
When odors are detected throughout the interior of your car you will need to follow these instructions: (1) lift the hood of your car and locate the intake vent(s) for the air conditioning/heating system (intake vent(s) are generally located below the windshield, and could be one long vent or two short vents), (2) start your vehicle and then turn on the air conditioning system with the fan on the “high” setting, (3) lower one of the rear windows by 2 to 3 inches (if there is no rear window then lower front passenger seat by 2 to 3 inches), and then (4) spray Petrotech for Auto or Multipurpose -- Mist directly into the intake vents for a period of 3 to 7 seconds. Wait about 5 minutes and repeat spray process, then wait another 5 minutes before turning off the air conditioning and checking for odors in the interior of the vehicle.
For “accidents” on the car seat or carpet, use Petrotech for Carpet, Bedding or Multipurpose -- Direct directly on the spot.
Oil, Gas and Diesel Fuel Odor - Direct
Petrotech will get rid of the odor and the gas or fuel. Using Petroech for Carpet, Concrete or Multipurpose -- Direct spray, hit the odor source and the smell will be eliminated. Petrotech will also accelerate the biodegradation of the oil or gas so that it will be gone in days instead of weeks or months.

How do I get rid of skunk odor on my pet? |

Use the Petrotech De-Skunk Coat Cleaner or Multipurpose Direct spray and thoroughly spray the affected
area of dog’s coat. Rub into your pet’s coat to
ensure that Petrotech penetrates into the
coat and encapsulates the skunk spray. If you still smell
skunk spray, reapply Petrotech on the affected
area; it may not have made contact with the skunk odor source.
Do NOT spray your pet’s eyes, nose, ears and mouth;
spray Petrotech onto a clean cloth and rub it carefully on
the face. If you accidentally get some in your pet’s
eyes, immediately flush out with water.
There is no need to rinse your pet down after using Petrotech. In fact, if you want to wash your skunked
pet, give him or her a bath first, and then apply Petrotech. You need to give Mother Nature and Petrotech a little time to biodegrade the skunk spray
so it is completely gone.
