Trying the Odor Eliminator
Grand Rapids, MI -- If some of the smells
in your home are leaving your breathless, there maybe a solution.
I put a new product to the test that claims it will do more than
cover up the odor.
As a vet, Dr. Karyl Ropko knows unpleasant
odors are part of the territory.
She put some stinky smells together to
help me test the Odor Eliminator. Dr. Ropko says, "We've collected
a few samples because it's hard to get a pet to go on the carpet
on command. So we've got some dog urine and some cat urine."
Ropko added an equal amount of dog and
cat urine to each new carpet patch. Kim says "I can smell it
already."
Then we had two sets of noses smell the
carpet "before" the products.
The company, Petrotech, claims their
product will get rid of the smell with a new technology that actually
closes in on the molecules and eats the odor.
We compared Odor Eliminator to the product
Dr. Ropko's clinic sells, Nature's Miracle. Then we added an average
household product like Fantastic.
After the products were used on the urine-laced
carpet, the smellers actually liked the Fantastic better. It left
a clean smell. But it covered up the urine with a different smell.
But Dr. Ropko warned their noses have
been tricked. Ropko says,"It probably covered up that urine
pretty well and diluted it down but probabaly didn't get to the
root of the odor source. So is it going come back.. it very well
could with the fantastic."
She was more impressed with the Odor
Eliminator. Ropko says,"It's promising."
It did not improve the carpet smell but
it did get rid of the odor dogs and cats leave behind.
Sixteen ounces of Odor Eliminator costs $13 and can be found at
www.Sea-Yu.com. Right now it's only being sold locally at V-I Pets
IN Zeeland. It also comes in a mist and makers say it even works
on skunk.
